Today is Women's Equality Day, and we at PPAC urge you to join with leaders from throughout the state to educate and advocate on behalf of reproductive health, rights and justice.
YOU can make a difference in three ways:
1. WATCH & SHARE HONORING COURAGE
Take just ten minutes to watch Honoring Courage: A Short History of Reproductive Health Services in California -- and share the link with family and friends.
The film details the fight in the 1960s and 1970s to legalize abortion and curtail forced sterilization and takes viewers to current efforts to secure reproductive rights and justice.
Planned Parenthood Affiliates of CA is proud to be part of the advisory committee on this important film, which was produced by the California Center for Research on Women & Families and Storefront Political Media. We were honored to work Advisory Committee members Black Women for Wellness, California Latinas for Reproductive Justice, NARAL Pro-Choice California, as well as the many leaders who agreed to be interviewed and filmed.
2. TAKE ACTION
Contact Governor Jerry Brown and urge him to support SB 1053, the Contraceptive Equity Act that expands access to birth control.
Authored by Senator Holly J. Mitchell, SB 1053 would ensure access to the full range of contraceptive methods approved by the Food and Drug Administration for all women in California without cost sharing, delays or denial of coverage.
The bill is now on the Governor's desk, so click here to send him a message that you support SB 1053! (Scroll down to SB 1053 when you are asked to "Please Choose Your Subject.")
Take a moment to support the important work of PPAC and other Advisory Committee organizations who work to secure and safeguard reproductive rights and justice.
Women's equality will only be achieved if we work together.
