We Want Your Words!

Pink bullhorn with yellow thunderbolt on it, black lightning bolts coming out of the bullhorn.

Planned Parenthood is seeking submissions of 1-7 poems from the general public regarding the theme: “What it Means To Have a Voice: reclaiming power and agency in the face of sexual harassment/assault, misogyny, sex trafficking, rape culture, and gender-based discrimination."

Accepted poems will be published and highly publicized as an online folio for the 45th anniversary of the historic Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision. This digital folio will be a space in which marginalized folx can reclaim their agency, reflect on social progress, and offer insight into their hopes for the future through the art of writing.

If you would like to submit, email the following to poetry@ppacca.org:

  • 1-7 previously unpublished poems regarding the theme: What It Means To Have a Voice (please attach this as a .pdf, .doc, or .docx)
  • a current author bio and picture
  • any and all links to your professional platforms
  • a brief statement on what Roe v. Wade and having a voice mean to you

Submissions open on December 20th, 2017 and close on January 12th, 2018 at 8:00 PM PST

All accepted poets will be paid $10 as compensation for donating their pieces to us. We hope to see something from you!
