Thank you for Standing with Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthood ads thank Assembly members
for supporting expanding access to birth control

SACRAMENTO -- Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California (PPAC) ran ads in three newspapers this morning thanking Speaker John A. Pérez, Assembly member Holly Mitchell and the members of the California State Assembly who stood with Planned Parenthood and voted yes on our Access to Birth Control Bill, AB 2348 (Mitchell).

"Your continued commitment to ensuring that California women, families and communities have access to the health care services we all need and deserve is greatly appreciated," the ads reads. "Your vote for AB 2348 helped women in your district; someone who might otherwise go without access to accurate information and reproductive care. Your important vote on the Access to Birth Control Bill helps Planned Parenthood and other health care providers continue to keep Californians healthy."

The ads ran this morning in The Sacramento Bee, La Opinión and The Los Angeles Sentinel.

"California has a long history of supporting women's health and we wanted the public to see who is standing up for women by voting to expand access to reproductive health," said Kathy Kneer, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California. "Passing common-sense legislation like the Access to Birth Control bill creates sound public health policy because it will increase access to birth control for thousands of women in California."

AB 2348 is authored by Assembly member Holly Mitchell (D-Los Angeles) and sponsored by PPAC and the California Family Health Council. The bill has the backing of a broad coalition of health and women's organizations including United Nurses Association of CA/Union of Healthcare Professionals; California Primary Care Association; American Nurses Association, California; American Medical Women’s Association; SEIU California; Women’s Community Clinic; Black Women's Health Project; California Latinas for Reproductive Justice; Black Women for Wellness; Women's Health Specialists; ACCESS Women's Health Justice, National Center for Youth Law; Sistersong; American Civil Liberties Union, California; and Physicians for Reproductive Choice & Health.
