Since its bi-partisan creation in 1970, the Title X Family Planning Program has been a key strategy for reducing unintended pregnancies throughout the country and in California.
Today in California, the Title X program serves more than one million women, men and teens each year through services provided at Planned Parenthood health centers, community clinics, school-based health centers, and city and county health departments. It is a vital tool in keeping men, women and teens healthy and allowing them to make appropriate reproductive choices.
“If the program is eliminated or slashed, as Congress intends, the ax will fall not on Obama, as conservatives feverishly imagine, but on people most in need of access to reproductive health care and contraception. And on the rural constituents of GOP congressmen including U.S. Rep. Tom McClintock and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy.”
