On August 23, the Community Action Fund (CAF) of Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties hosted a campaign headquarters kick-off celebration to formally begin the field program to support Assemblymember Sharon Quirk-Silva (AD65). The Community Action Fund hosted the event in collaboration with the Orange County Labor Federation (OCLF), California Teachers Association (CTA), and Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California (PPAC).
Assemblymember Quirk-Silva’s race in Assembly District 65 is the top targeted race in California for progressive organizations. "Assemblymember Quirk-Silva has a solid history of supporting women’s health issues and supporting access to reproductive healthcare and education." said Michelle Bartlett, CAF Board Chair. "That's why we're here - to educate voters about her 100% record supporting Planned Parenthood issues."
Community Action Fund advocates and Orange County progressives gathered to hear about the components of the campaign field program and meet the CAF staff and board members. The program guest speakers included Michelle Bartlett, Chair of the PPOSBC Community Action Fund, Julio Perez, Executive Chair of the Orange County Labor Federation, and Kendall Vaught, CTA Board Member.
Other special guests included Al Jabbar, Anaheim Union High School District Board of Trustees, John Palacio, Santa Ana Unified School District Board of Trustees, Gus Castellanos, Office of Congressmember Loretta Sanchez, and Sandra Fox, President AFSCME Local 2076.
After the program guests joined CAF staff and board members and volunteered by contacting voters by phoning and knocking on doors.
