More than 213 enthusiastic supporters, community leaders, and legislative champions celebrated Planned Parenthood Action Fund of the Pacific Southwest’s (PPAFPSW) 25th annual Stand Now! party in La Jolla on September 1, helping to raise an unprecedented $242,000 for the affiliate’s education, advocacy, and electoral programs.
Award recipient Assemblymember Lorena Gonzalez said “choice is choice is choice is choice, and Planned Parenthood knows that.” No matter what choices women make—whether it’s deciding whom to vote for or choosing whether to get an abortion—PPAFPSW trusts women to make the best decisions for themselves and their families.
Featured speaker California State Controller Betty Yee said, “When women succeed, the economy succeeds.” Women’s economic empowerment is directly linked to high-quality, affordable, and accessible reproductive health care. That’s why PPAFPSW is proud to endorse and elect leaders who expand access to care and defend against anti-women legislation and defunding threats.
