We just announced our endorsement of Xavier Becerra for California Attorney General!

"Attorney General Xavier Becerra has spent his career, including more than two decades in Congress, championing access to sexual, reproductive and women's health care,” said Crystal Strait, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California. “That is why PPAC without any hesitation strongly endorses his campaign for California Attorney General. Now more than ever, as the administration continues its relentless assault on Planned Parenthood, we need leaders like Attorney General Becerra who are standing up and fighting for millions who rely on this essential health care."

“I am honored to have the endorsement of the Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California,” said Attorney General Xavier Becerra. “I have vowed in my current position as Attorney General to defend the reproductive rights of Californians and ensure continued access to health care for the one million Californians who depend on Planned Parenthood. All women in California have a right to make their own personal health care decisions and I will do everything in my power to protect these rights in California.”

This year Attorney General Becerra defended the Reproductive FACT Act against legal challenge. The FACT Act ensures that licensed health professionals provide patients with accurate and complete information before making health care decisions. In addition, when the Trump administration attacked women's health by allowing employers to opt out of providing contraception to employees, Becerra challenged that action in federal court and sought to stop the administration’s new rules.

The seven independently incorporated Planned Parenthood 501(C)(3) affiliates operate more than 115 health centers serving close to 800,000 Californians each year. They provide preventive health care services including family planning, breast and cervical cancer screenings, STD testing and treatment and in some areas primary health care services.
