‘Our fight is far from over’
Planned Parenthood is thankful that the U.S. Senate defeated a defunding attempt, ACA repeal, and will continue to protect patient access to care.
Here's a statement by Crystal Strait, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, on last night's vote by the U.S. Senate to reject the “Skinny Repeal.”
“While we are thankful that the U.S. Senate voted to defeat this harmful bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act and “defund” Planned Parenthood, we know that the fight for our patients’ ability to access sexual and reproductive health care is far from over. We may have won this round, but Congress and Trump will not stop until they deny hundreds of thousands of Californians access to birth control, life-saving cancer screenings, STI testing and treatment, and sexual health education and information.
“We’ve already seen cuts to teen pregnancy prevention programs and proposals to eliminate Title X family planning. Their relentless efforts to put politics before good health must be stopped.”
