On Wednesday, May 13 the House of Representatives voted on a harmful measure, H.R. 36, which is a nationwide 20-week abortion ban. This type of legislation is dangerous for women’s health. Leading medical groups agree that doctors, in consultation with women and their families, should make medical decisions. Not politicians.
H.R. 36 even fails to include reasonable exceptions for victims of rape and incest. While unfortunately H.R. 36 gathered enough votes to pass the House of Representatives, many California Congressmembers voted NO on this bill and are speaking out in strong opposition of this abortion ban and in strong support of women’s health.
