TRAPPED Debuts June 20th on PBS!

Several Planned Parenthood affiliates in California are planning screenings of "TRAPPED”: the story of the abortion debate told through the eyes of the medical professionals who provide legal and safe abortions for their patients. The film captures how Targeted Regulations of Abortion Providers (TRAP) laws have adversely affected the work and lives of abortion providers and the patients they serve.

Promesa Lawsuit Fights for Reproductive and Sexual Health Care Rights of Foster Youth

The National Center for Youth Law (NCYL) filed a lawsuit in late February charging that Promesa Behavioral Health is harming foster youth placed in its care. The suit was filed on behalf of current and former residents of Promesa group homes claiming that Promesa has violated their constitutional right to privacy.

AB 1671 Assembly Public Safety Committee votes to protect privacy: Bill carefully weighs freedom of speech & right to privacy

The Assembly Public Safety Committee voted to protect the personal privacy rights of Californians by passing AB 1671 on a 5-1 vote. Authored by Assemblymember Jimmy Gomez (D-Los Angeles), AB 1671 closes a loophole in current law to prohibit the intentional disclosure and distribution of confidential communications that are obtained without a person's consent.

While we've made some progress in moving toward better health outcomes for people of color, we've still got a long way to go. We must continue working with our communities to transform our world from one divided by disparities to a world united by health equity.
