The Supreme Court just ruled this morning on a pivotal abortion access case called Whole Woman's Health v. Hellerstedt – this case challenged a harmful Texas law called HB2. This 5 to 3 decision is a decisive victory for abortion rights and means that extreme restrictions on access to safe and legal abortion will not stand.

The National Center for Youth Law (NCYL) filed a lawsuit in late February charging that Promesa Behavioral Health is harming foster youth placed in its care. The suit was filed on behalf of current and former residents of Promesa group homes claiming that Promesa has violated their constitutional right to privacy.

AB 1671 Assembly Public Safety Committee votes to protect privacy: Bill carefully weighs freedom of speech & right to privacy
The Assembly Public Safety Committee voted to protect the personal privacy rights of Californians by passing AB 1671 on a 5-1 vote. Authored by Assemblymember Jimmy Gomez (D-Los Angeles), AB 1671 closes a loophole in current law to prohibit the intentional disclosure and distribution of confidential communications that are obtained without a person's consent.
